There are so many precious moments that I get with just me and the boys and of course there is no one here to photograph it!!. I already look back and see pictures of stuff we did 3 years ago and can barely remember it. I know I will really forget some of the times that we have when there are no pictures to look back and remember with. Tonight, as we were going through our new scheduled night time kindergarten-in-the-morning ritual, I realized how fast my time at home with Chase went and how fast the rest of this is going to go too so I thought I would start "journaling" some of the things we do even if there are no pictures to go along with it, just for memories sake. We have never gone to bed early, for the past 5 years, we have gone and done full force from morning until 10:00 or 11:00 at night (and later). So, this regular supper time, bath time, story time, and bed time is a new thing for us. And though the other was fun for then, this is pretty cool too for this time in our life. We had supper early, and were done with bath by 7:15 so we got our 'jommas' on went for a before dark four wheeler ride. Mason rode with me and Chase drove his. It was a gorgeous night and it felt so good, we all 3 got our sunglasses on to keep the bugs from going in our eyes and rode all over the farm for 30 minutes. It was so fun... Mason fell asleep as I figured he would so when we got back to the house, I put him to bed and Chase and I rode bikes in the driveway and yard until time to go in and go to bed. We raced down the little hill in our driveway and he bet me that I couldn't make a circle at the bottom without putting on my brake, and he was right, I couldn't. He could and he thought that was really cool. It was just such a fun night with them. Then we came in and read Green Eggs and Ham, and A Silly Snowy Day (very appropriate for an August night) in the recliner and I tucked him into bed. I am not used to this structured way of life yet, and I have always loved that we were fun and flexible and didn't have a structured schedule to our lives, but I am doing my best and know that with this new phase of school life, it is needed and beneficial and I think we are going to make it just fine, and still have lots of fun... just structured-y kind of fun!
I love my life!

Kindergarten

So, today was the day... Chase's very first day of elementary school! This morning when we were getting ready, he said "Mom, I'm kind of nervous about this." I told him it was okay to be nervous and that I was a little nervous about it too, but he was also excited and he didn't act the least bit nervous once we got there. Here are a few pictures I took of him in the morning, and mom took a few of Chase and me this afternoon when we picked him up. I asked him what his favorite part of the entire day was and he told me that he had two favorite things that were tied. "Playing on the playground and lunch." What a boy :)

I know he's mine, but is this a cute school boy or what!!!!!

Last Day :(
Today was my last day as a stay-at-home mom with Chase as a stay-at-home kid. I can not believe how fast it went. I am excited for him to get to go to school and learn to read and do all of the fun stuff that kids get to do at school, but it breaks my heart that my time with him at home just to myself is gone. Here he is in his pajamas getting ready to go to bed early (which he has never done before in his life) before his first day of big boy school.

Fun ride

Tonight Melissa, Dustin, and the boys came over for supper. I had mentioned earlier to Amy that if she wanted to ride bikes, I would go with her, so when she decided to go, I just asked Melissa if she would want to go for a quick ride while the guys watched the boys (and when I say guys, I mean Dustin... I don't think Erick did much watchin'). Anyways, we had fun and ended up riding 8 miles... not too bad for a quick ride, and for Melissa's first. I just thought I would post this fun picture of Amy and Melissa getting ready to ride :)

Spider-man!

Well, yesterday evening, Amy and I got back from Alabama with the boys around 7:00ish. The unspoken plan was to unpack, check out the new swing set, eat supper, relax, and go to bed. I hadn't penciled in a poisonous spider bite, and late night trip to the ER, but that is what happened! Chase and Erick decided to ride the 4 wheelers up to Granddaddy's shop to get something, and when Chase got his helmet out, there was a spider-web on it. Erick came over and wiped off the web, and shook the helmet out, gave it a quick look for spiders, and didn't see anything so off they went. When they got back, Chase took the helmet off and told Erick he felt like his body just got shocked. Erick just blew it off (our kids say weird stuff ALOT) since that is all he said and he just wandered off toward the house. By the time he got to the back door, he was in pain and crying hard. He told me something hurt his ear, and he thought it might be a spider because of the web he had seen on his helmet. I looked at his ear, which was really red, but didn't see anything that looked like a bite, and I thought it may just be red from him rubbing it. I got him some ice to put on it, but he was REALLY crying hard, and sporadically yelling out in pain, so I laid him on the couch and went out to see what Erick thought happened. He thought Chase might be exaggerating a little because of seeing the web, and I thought maybe he had just been stung by something but Erick went over and got the helmet anyway to look and sure enough, this is what we found!!!!!!!! I was pretty sure it was a black widow so Erick told me to call Christina to see if she thought that meant an ER trip was needed asap, and she agreed. She was sweet enough to call the ER charge nurse for us (whom she knew) and let him know we were coming. Ju Ju came over and got Mason, and we loaded up Chase, his ice pack, and the (STUPID) spider in a bottle, and headed for the emergency room. He did great, and the doctor said that since he was bit in the ear (not a lot of blood flow), and he didn't seem to have any symptoms that it was serious he thought he would be fine. He said they could give him the anti-venom stuff?? but that he didn't think it was necessary and that they usually do that only in the more severe cases. We just got some antibiotics and Benadryl and were told to watch him for several hours to make sure he didn't get any of the symptoms, which he didn't so all is good! Here are some pictures of the spider that bit our sweet little boy! Chase hates him pretty good and plans to put a firecracker in the bottle when Erick gets home. (Only my husband would come up with a plan like that, huh?)
